Stripped from the male gaze and the patriarchal constraints imposed from the artistic traditions of Western Art, we will experience the female nude figure in the visual arts, through the lens of four female artists: Jenny Saville, Suzanne Valadon, Paula Modersohn-Becker, Renee Cox. May 22 Participants are welcome to join Bernadine in a tour of the Wadsworth Atheneum to view representations of the female nude on view in their collection.

Bernadine is an art historian and educator fascinated by the influence of women artists in the story of art. Her goal is to introduce and engage the public with female artists through works that expose the astonishing beauty of women's inner lives. She hosts "Beyond the Paint with Bernadine" podcast, a celebration of women makers and artists and currently writing a memoir on the ways art liberated and transformed her life.
