KATIE FOGG

MULTIDISCIPLINARY ARTIST

Phone: (860)333-7213

To see her collections, please visit www.KATIEFOGG.com

Katie Fogg is a multidisciplinary artist who's vibrant work exemplifies her interpretation of the world in its full intensity. The visual experience of color and design is a direct effect of environmental observation - both immediate and reflective.

Her “Streetscapes” capture downtowns that are transformed by uplifting use of color and deep perspectives, while her minimalist is in feel with important touches to detail, a style that feels loose by completely controlled by fluid.

Born in Connecticut, Katie has been classically trained during her time at two of the most prestigious figurative academies. She received her BFA from the Lyme Academy of College of Fine Art and her MFA from the New York Academy of Art.

Katie has received awards such as the John Stobart Fellowship Award, and publications that tell stories about her dedication to observe and her colorist reputation of traveled  lands and studies on the mind and spirit.

All in all, Katie Fogg’s many bodies of work, from plein-air to figurative painting, represents Katie’s versatility and acts as limbs to a larger artistic being - each series outwardly portrays intimate healing and personal experiences.

I am a self-taught artist and crafts woman who enjoys working in all types of mediums. I grew up in New England but spent summers in Manchester-by-the-Sea, MA, with my grandfather , who was also an artist. He worked in oils and wood carving, so I spent hours learning from him and taking in EVERY bit I could. The ocean, beach and boatyards, were inspiring to me, so I tended to paint them the most and still do.

I started with watercolors then through the years, taught myself in oils, acrylics, clay, inks, textile, stained glass, beaded jewelry and more. I learned by books and videos besides a few classes in high school. I had an Art consignment shop in Wallingford, taught summer classes at Art Space in Middletown and currently display art at The Red Barn.

Art has played an integral part of my life and I feel a need to create almost daily.  Art is healing as it can relieve stress, aids communication, helps with cognitive decline, aids with anxiety and relaxation. It forces you to connect with your mind and body.  Exercise works the body, meditation works the mind BUT ART-MAKING accesses both the body and mind, to promote, ALL OVER WELL –BEING!!! I would like to share this experience with you!

I hear people say “I can’t draw a stick figure”, but that’s ok because you don’t have to be Picasso to enjoy or do Art. I will be holding classes where you can just relax for an hour (maybe 2?) and play a little plus learn and bring something home you are proud of.

My classes will be more about exploration of mediums, learning color mixing, technique but also having a playful, chilled back atmosphere. I am open to suggestions or ideas about a certain type of medium or even a craft type item you may want to learn. Please email me.
